  • Head of the Department of Cell Biology and Biotechnology, Institute of Food Biotechnology and Genomics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (since 2017);
  • Professor (part-time) of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Natural Sciences, National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (since 2024).

Research interests: cell biology, plant molecular genetics, molecular biotechnology, nanobiotechnology.

  • 1996 – Candidate of Biological Sciences (PhD equivalent);
  • 2011 – Doctor of Biological Sciences (DSc).

  • 2013 – Professor.

  • 1992 – graduated from Taras Shevchenko Kyiv State University with a degree in Cell Biology and Genetic Engineering (MSc).

  • 1997 – Visiting Researcher, Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg, Germany;
  • 1998, 2000-2003 – Visiting Researcher, John Innes Centre, Norwich, United Kingdom;
  • 2001 – Visiting Scientist, Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany;
  • 2004 – Invited Experienced Scientist, Jealott’s Hill International Research Centre (Bioscience), Syngenta, United Kingdom;
  • 2005-2006 – Visiting Researcher, University of Antwerp, Belgium;
  • 2015, 2016, 2018, 2020 – Research training at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC EC), Ispra, Italy.

Scientific, organisational and expert activities:

  • 2007–2008 – Advisory Panel Member, NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme, Scientific Affairs Division, NATO Headquarters, Brussels, Belgium;
  • since 2021 – Expert, European Research Executive Agency (REA), European Commission, for evaluation of project proposals (HORIZON programmes);
  • since 2024 – Expert, Slovak Research and Development Agency (SRDA).

Scientific publications and developments: author and co-author of more than 200 scientific publications (indexed in Scopus/WoS), 10 patents and 5 plant varieties.

Membership in scientific societies:

  • Vice-President, Ukrainian Society of Cell Biology and Biotechnology (since 2013);
  • First Vice-President, All-Ukrainian Association of Plant Biologists (since 2015);
  • Associate Member, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (since 2015);
  • Full Member, Academy of Europe (Academia Europaea) (since 2024).

Awards and honours:

  • 2012 – State Prize of Ukraine;
  • 2019 – M.H. Kholodny Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
  • 2020 – Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine.
